Take 4 big kids raised on 90s rock, add earwormy synths and a magical sound quality, powerful guitars, tales of irony or just plain woe and tunes imbued with dreams and nostalgia, borne on unforgettable choruses and you have Tapenga, an independent pop band from the south of France.
It was in May 2005, in a Nice basement, that the group was born, a joint project between Seb (guitar, keyboard, bass & vocals), Steph (guitar, bass, vocals), Nico (drums & vocals) and John (guitar, keyboards, vocals): four friends that have been making music for over ten years now.
Tapenga, so named in homage to a TV heroine in a teatime series that has somewhat faded in our memories over time, have always had an original style and a particular soul, especially with their use of keyboards that wouldn't have disgraced the marvelous Grandaddy. |
