Welcome to the The Village Green Preservation Society... the select club founded by the Kinks has finally found a worthy repesentative in France to spread the good word and perpetuate the Holy Bible of Pop : Fargo.

And another stroke of luck : they're on Pop Only Knows.

Formed in 2006, this anglophile group grew up around Antoine (vocals/guitars) and Harold (vocals/guitars), with the backup of Mike (bass/keyboards), Julian (drums & percussion) and now Camille (vocals). Five strong personalities to build a brilliant psychadelic pop, close to Piper At The Gates Of Dawn-era Floyd, the Kinks but also, more recent, to Oasis (a major group, let's not forget it, whose first two albums are essentials).

But Fargo are way too smart to restrict themselves to a single genre, and their first album, Exit, knows how to stray off the beaten track like on Les Fourmis (ants), pop reminiscent of hip-hop and sung in French, or on Inner Situation, with it's amazing rhythmic, bluesy vocal.

 

This freedom of tone makes Exit an undefinable album, but very, very Fargo.

In these times of Fame Academy conformity, so much the better and so rare !
